Most jewellery boxes are designed to survive one opening. This one is designed to stay on the shelf.
There is a moment when a piece of jewellery arrives that you only get once, and most brands spend it on a printed card sleeve that goes straight in the bin.
Ours opens like something worth keeping. A hinged velvet-touch outer box in olive green, the mark in antique gold foil rather than printed ink, a tassel pulled through a gold ring on the front edge. Inside, a lift-out insert holds the pendant box, a pouch for the extender, a drawstring pouch for travel, a cleaning cloth and the authenticity card, each in its own well, so nothing rattles and nothing scratches anything else.
Every gold element is foil or a tonal emboss. Nothing gold is a printed ink.
The pendant has its own box inside that one — cream suede, 60 by 60 by 38 millimetres, with a notch that holds the chain either side so the piece lies flat and centred instead of pooling in a corner. That is the box you actually keep, and it is small enough to travel with.
The authenticity card is printed on 350gsm textured stock with the mark embossed into it, and it carries the weight of the complete article. Keep it. If the piece ever comes back to us under the buy-back guarantee, the card is the quickest way for us to identify what we are looking at.
